Introducing Revoke WordPress Theme

Licensing Terms: Please be advised, in order to use the theme in a legal manner, you need to purchase a separate license for each domain you are going to use the theme on.

A single license is limited to a single domain/application.

This documentation will teach you how to set up and use the Revoke WordPress Theme. The theme is very easy to use and we are here to guide and help you, so please read and follow the documentation, if there some other issues you want to discuss then do not hesitate to contact us on hi@teslathemes.com. This documentation is more of a reference work if you do not know what to do, or if you are not familiar to WordPress.

Please read the following documentation very carefully as it will help you set the theme up, we have gone through the setup process multiple times and provided the best possible instructions.

We strongly recommend you to use a fresh install of WordPress and integrate your content into the pages according to the documentation. Of course, you can try to implement the theme into your current WordPress, but we will not provide in-depth support for it. The theme has specific settings that may conflict with your current setup of categories, plugins, javascript use, and more.

We wish you good luck in your work with Revoke WordPress Theme, and of course we would love to see your website and what you come up with by using this theme.

The theme is very easy to use and we are here to guide and help you, so please read and follow the instructions and if you have further questions write us a email hi@teslathemes.com. This documentation is more of a reference work if you do not know what to do and need a better understanding on how the template is built write us a email.

Installing WordPress

To the Top

Step 1: Download and Extract

Download and unzip the WordPress package from Download Wordpress.

  • If you will be uploading WordPress to a remote web server, download the WordPress package to your computer with a web browser and unzip the package.
  • If you will be using FTP, upload the wordpress folder to your site.
  • After a successful upload, then you access your site URL and get this message:

Step 2: Edit the Configuration File

Auto Mode: After accessing the site you will get the configuration page:

Establishing a connection

If the information is correct and everything works fine you will receive:

Successful

If it's successful then skip the "Manual Mode" if not, follow the instructions bellow.

Manual Mode: You can either rename the file wp-config-sample.php to wp-config.php on your local machine or on you server (you'll still need to tell WordPress your database information).

Open wp-config.php with a txt editor and enter your database information under the section labeled:

After the information is edited upload the file to the server.

Step 3: Site name and login data

If it's all sparky then you click Run the Install and fill all the lines bellow:

This being the last step you will see a success message.

Success

Click Log in and now you can proceed to you site. Now you can go to installing your Revoke WordPress Theme.

Installing Theme

To install the Revoke WordPress Theme you will need WordPress v3.4 or newer.

Option A

Follow the steps and upload the Theme's installation.zip file through the WordPress admin backend:

Then, when prompted activate the theme:

active

Note: If you can't get passed the file upload limit and/or if you get an error message mentioning exhausted memory size or something in those lines, you could try to increase that limit by adding to the "wp-config.php" the following line of code:

define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '64M');

Option B

You have to upload via FTP to the Server, in Wordpress Folder → wp-content → themes folder the Revoke WordPress Theme Folder.

If everything went well in Option A or B, the theme should appear under Appearance → Themes like shown below:

Now you are ready to customize your theme

General Options

To the Top

Create a page that will serve as homepage - In wordpress admin panel under Pages → Add New, name it for example "Home"

Set the front page to display as a static page: - Go to Settings → Reading → A static page (select below) → Front page: → Choose your page from the dropdown menu. If you named it Home, do the following:

All our themes are powered by Tesla Framework, a powerful administration tool that comprises all our great features and allows you to easily customize the look and functionality of your theme, without advanced knowledge of programming. It gives you the possibility to customize and manage your theme settings from a dedicated area within your Wordpress Admin. Tesla Framework works smoothly, is intuitive and easy to use, once you install one of our themes you will be able to personalize its logo, site background and color, SEO options, social media networks and more; all from one place.

Our Framework is in continuous development and improvement process, we are working hard to provide you an easy administration tool, and we're guided by the latest UX trends and new technologies.

To personalize your theme you need to follow the instructions below.


General Options

Logo as image - set an image as the site logo.

Logo as text - set a string as the site logo. This will override the "Logo as image" option. Bellow the font, font size and text color can be specified.

Favicon - set the favicon for the site.

Site color - set the site color. This color is used in mutiple places across the site (links, menues, buttons etc.).

Custom CSS - write your own custom CSS in this box.



Site Background

Background Color - set a color as the site's background.

Background Image - set an image as the site's background. Background image and color can be set at the same time.

Position - set the position for the background image.

Repeat - set the repeat option for the background image.

Attachment - set the attachment option for the background image. "Scroll" will make the image move/scroll together with the site while "fixed" will make the image preserve its position.



SEO and Socials

Social Platform - set the links for the desired social platform. The corresponding social icons will appear in the top right corder of the site.

Tracking Code - paste the code for Google Analytics or other service here.



Additional Options

Blog Page Title - set an alternative title for the blog page (ex. News, Events etc.).

Footer - set the company name and the URL that are used in the footer section.

Twitter Settings - in order for the Twitter widget to work properly this must be configured. Here is a video tutorial how to obtain the keys . Note that after configuring this you can specify any Twitter username in the "Twitter widget" to take the messages from not only your own.

Portfolio Settings / Default View - set the default view as "List" for the portfolio (all the instances). This option be be set to individual instances of portfolio using default_view attribute (see the Shortcodes section).

Portfolio Settings / URL Path - change the URL path to a single protfolio item. Default is revoke_portfolio. In order for the changes to take effect you need to go to Dashboard > Settings > Permalinks and refresh the structure (set to something else, apply, then set back and apply again).



Contact Info

Map Iframe - configure the location used by the [tesla_map] shortcode. You can also specify a different icon for your location.

Contact Form - configure this for the contact form to work properly. Contact form can be generated using [tesla_contact] shortcode. Set the e-mail that will receive the messages from the contact form. Set the subject prefix for the emssages received from the contact form (useful for filtering the inbox). Also set the title for the contact form (all instances).

Custom posts

Revoke theme is greate for personal portfolio, events, music band website.

In admin menu you will discover five custom post that help you to custom your theme for your needs



Install dummy posts XML file to preview all features of Revoke theme. Bellow is listed all templates aviabile.


Main Slider

To generate the main slider use [tesla_main_slider] shortcode. For each slide create a new post in this section. The slides will be displayed in chronological order (older slides will be displayed first).

Post title - will be used the title for the slide.

Description - will be used as the text description below the slide's title.

Image - set the image of the slide.

URL - (optional) - set an URL that will be applied to the title of the slide.


Clients Slider

To generate the clients slider use [tesla_clients_slider] shortcode. For each slide create a new post in this section. The slides will be displayed in chronological order (older slides will be displayed first).

Post title - (not used) - set the name of the post (although it's not displayed in the site it is required).

Image - set the image of the slide.

URL - (optional) - set an URL that will be applied to the image of the slide.


Secondary Slider

To generate the clients slider use [tesla_secondary_slider] shortcode. For each slide create a new post in this section. The slides will be displayed in chronological order (older slides will be displayed first).

Post title - (not used) - set the name of the post (although it's not displayed in the site it is required).

Image - set the image of the slide.


Testimonials

To generate the testimonials use [tesla_testimonials] shortcode. For each testimonial create a new post in this section. The slides will be displayed in chronological order (older testimonials will be displayed first).

Post title - (not used) - set the name of the post (although it's not displayed in the site it is required).

Testimonial - enter the text of the testimonial.

Author's Image - set the photo/image of the author.

Author's Name - set the name of the author.

Author's URL - (optional) - set an URL that will be applied to the author's name.


Portfolio

To generate the portfolio use [tesla_portfolio] shortcode. For each portfolio item create a new post in this section. The portfolio items will be displayed in reversed chronological order (newer items will be displayed first).

The portfolio features two view modes located in the top right corder: grid view and list view. Also for every portfolio exists a single portfolio item page. It can be accessed by clicking on the desired item in the portfolio or in the admin area by clicking "View" next to the item.

Post title - the title of the post will be used as the item's title.

Post categories - set the post categories (located on the right of the Edit Page). These categories will be used in the filter at the top of the portfolio.

Small description - this description will be displayed on item hover in the grid view of the portfolio.

Big description - this description will be displayed next to the item's big iage in the list view of the portfolio.

Single project description - this description is displayed on the protfolio item's single page.

Related slider description - if the current item is related to another item, then this description will be displayed in the related slider.

Small image - set the image to be displayed in the portfolio's grid view.

Big image - set the image to be displayed in the portfolio's list view.

Related image - set the image to be displayed in the related slider on the single page of another item that is related to current item.

Project Image Slider - set multiple images for the slider displayed on the item's single page. To add images click the "Add Image" button. You can also sort the images by dragging and moving them.

Categories - (optional) - not to be confued with the "Post categories", if this option is not set then a list of Post categories will be displayed on the item's single page. Set this option in case you want something else (a different list) to be displayed on the item's single page.

Skills - set the skills field that is displayed on the item's single page.

Project URL - set url for the project link field that is displayed on the item's single page.

Read More URL - (optional) - set a custom url for the "Read More" button of the item. By default the url to the item's single page is set.

Main Slider

Configure the shorcode from Dashboard > Main Slider.

Optional attributes:

  • speed - nr of seconds (default is 4) to wait before changing to the next slide
  • pause - nr of seconds (default is 8) to wait for the autoplay to resume after the slider has been stopped (the slider stops the autoplay when you hover the mouse over and resumes when you hover the mouse out the slider)
  • toggle_caption - 1 or 0 (default is 1) - should the slider caption be always visible then set to 0 or should they fade in at mouse over and fade out at mouse out set this to 1


Clients Slider

  • title - title of the slider (default is Our Clients)


Secondary Slider

Portfolio

Configure the shorcode from Dashboard > Portfolio.

Optional attributes:

  • no_more - 1 or 0 (default is 0) - set to 1 to hide the "Read More" button from the portfolio items on the Grid View of the portfolio
  • default_view - grid or list - change in which mode the portfolio is shown by default
  • title - default is "Featured work:" - set the titled displayed before the filters
  • category - default is "" (empty) - specify a list of category slugs separated by a comma, only the items from the categories specified by these category slugs will be displayed


Testimonial

Configure the shorcode from Dashboard > Testimonials.

Optional attributes:

  • speed - nr of seconds (default is 4) to wait before changing to the next testimonial
  • pause - nr of seconds (default is 8) to wait for the autoplay to resume after it has been stopped (the autoplay stops when you hover the mouse over and resumes when you hover the mouse out the testimonial box)
  • wide - 1 or 0 (default is 1) - set to 0 in order for the testimonial box to have the same width as the main content or set to 1 if you want the testimonial box to have full browser width

Use tesla_column_first for the first column.

Use tesla_column_last for the last column.

Use tesla_column for any in-between columns.

Specify the size attribute for each column.

The sum of sizes of all columns started with the first and ended with the last column must not exceed 12.
